I applaud your efforts in opening up such a beautiful restaurant, as well as your sincerity in providing much-needed healthy alternatives. Your enthuisiasm is contagious and try as I might, I can’t be annoyed with you, but I would feel a whole lot better about supporting your lovely establishment had you done the expected(required?) thing and gone around to your neighbours asking them how they felt about a restaurant opening up across the road from their homes, in this heavily populated residential area. A restaurant like yours, operating in your proposed hours is, of course, totally acceptable, but one worries about what might happen down the road, should you decide to extend your hours late into the night, or start selling alcohol, etc?

Hi Deidre – thank you for your comment and for your kind words. Thank you also for not being annoyed with us! You are of course, quite correct about neighbour consultation. We realise it is after the fact, but the process of approval from council includes this and unfortunately the road we have been travelling with officialdom has been paved with rocks and stones, although we are persevering! One of the reasons we are only open in the daytime is that we realise that this is a mixed residential and business area and do not want to disturb our neighbours, aiming to be a peaceful and quiet haven for all our guests as well as those who live around us. A late night restaurant with rowdiness does not fit into our philosophy or our approach! We hope that you will enjoy having us as neighbours and that you will also enjoy what we have to offer and feel welcome when you visit us!
